Reiki is a Japanese technique in which I channel energy through my hands to clear blockages to healing. Gentle, non-invasive light-touch hand placements on or above specific points on the body promote relaxation and release muscle tension. The name comes from “Rei” (universal) and “Ki” (life energy). The underlying principle is that balanced energy promotes well-being, and blockages lead to illness.
I was born in South Africa, and from an early age, I loved reading and writing. My professional life unfolded in the world of literature, where I taught skills that would become the foundation of my work with clients’ inner narratives.
Apartheid’s interracial dynamics led me to psychology. After arriving in California, I became a psychotherapist specializing in food and weight issues and was certified in hypnotherapy. I taught at John F. Kennedy University and facilitated workshops and retreats in the community.
